Programme Overview
The Bachelor of Data Science (Artificial Intelligence) with Honours equips students with a comprehensive blend of technical, analytical, and professional skills required to excel in the data-driven economy. Students develop strong programming and software development competencies using languages such as Python and R, alongside algorithm design, database management, and software engineering principles. The programme builds expertise in data analytics and statistical methods, including data collection, preprocessing, statistical analysis, data visualisation and business analytics. Students also gain advanced knowledge in artificial intelligence and machine learning, covering machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, and the development of intelligent AI solutions. To prepare graduates for modern computing environments, the curriculum emphasises data engineering and big data technologies, including data architecture, data management and data security. Students further develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills by analysing complex datasets, evaluating models, and designing innovative solutions to real-world challenges. The programme combines theory with extensive practical experience through hands-on laboratory sessions, project-based learning, capstone projects, and exposure to industry-standard AI and analytics tools.
