Programme Overview
Students of this programme are equipped with sound theoretical foundation and ample practical work to cater for the high demands of current industry where everything is now connected via electronic network. These industry-driven skills and knowledge include security design, network modelling, router administration and networking programming.
Core Skills Developed
Students are equipped with solid foundations in electrical and electronic circuits, digital electronics, embedded software, internetworking technologies, and network security. Emphasis is placed on application-oriented learning through laboratory work, integrated design projects, industrial training, and final year projects. These experiences enable students to develop technical competency, analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, project management skills, and professional ethics while addressing real industrial challenges. The curriculum also incorporates emerging technologies such as cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), enterprise networking, and network security through elective courses, allowing students to broaden their expertise in response to the rapid evolution of digital communication technologies. Core skills pillars: Electronic Systems Engineering, Network Design & Infrastructure, Communication Technologies, Embedded & Intelligent Systems, Cybersecurity & Digital Infrastructure and Professional Engineering Practice
Specialized Facilities
computer lab, basic electronic lab, microprocessor lab, IC design lab, as well as CISCO lab at UniMAP's TVET Centre which provides industry-oriented training facilities.
