Programme Overview
This program focuses on the field of automotive technology with an emphasis on three main areas namely automotive manufacturing, vehicle maintenance and vehicle design modifications. In this program, students can choose a specialization or expertise they want to learn from the two options provided, namely vehicle diagnosis expertise and vehicle design modification expertise. Throughout their studies in this program, students will be exposed to various technologies in the automotive industry such as 3D printing, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, electric vehicles and unmanned vehicles, in line with the circulation of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
Core Skills Developed
The Automotive Technology programme equips students with industry-relevant competencies that prepare them for careers in the modern automotive sector. Students develop the ability to perform vehicle performance analysis by evaluating the efficiency, reliability, and operational characteristics of automotive systems using advanced testing techniques. They gain expertise in vehicle fault diagnostic, applying systematic troubleshooting methods and professional diagnostic tools to identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults accurately. The programme also provides practical skills in automotive painting, including surface preparation, colour matching, spray application, and high-quality refinishing techniques that meet professional and environmental standards. In addition, students acquire proficiency as CAD/CAE modellers, utilising advanced computer-aided design and engineering software to create, simulate, analyse, and optimise automotive components and systems. Collectively, these competencies foster strong technical knowledge, analytical thinking, digital proficiency, and practical problem-solving skills, enabling graduates to excel in the evolving automotive industry.
