Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honours

Faculty of Civil Engineering & Technology

Programme Overview

The Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honours is a comprehensive engineering programme designed to develop graduates with advanced competencies in the analysis, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of civil engineering systems and infrastructure. The curriculum integrates fundamental engineering sciences, mathematics, and computational techniques with specialised knowledge in structural, geotechnical, transportation, water resources, environmental, construction, and materials engineering. Emphasis is placed on engineering design, numerical analysis, sustainability, resilience, risk assessment, digital engineering technologies, and compliance with engineering standards and codes of practice. Through laboratory experimentation, field investigations, industrial training, multidisciplinary design projects, and a final-year capstone project, students develop the technical proficiency, analytical capability, and professional judgement required to solve complex engineering problems. The programme also fosters ethical responsibility, project management, effective communication, teamwork, and lifelong learning, preparing graduates for professional engineering practice, infrastructure development, and registration as Professional Engineers in accordance with national and international accreditation requirements.

Core Skills Developed

Develop strong technical competencies in structural, geotechnical, transportation, water resources, environmental, construction, and materials engineering, enabling them to analyse, design, construct, and maintain sustainable infrastructure. The programme strengthens skills in engineering analysis, computational modelling, Building Information Modelling (BIM), computer-aided design (CAD), laboratory experimentation, field investigations, engineering surveying, project management, and risk assessment. Students also acquire the ability to solve complex engineering problems using modern engineering tools while demonstrating effective communication, teamwork, leadership, ethical and professional responsibility, critical thinking, and a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and lifelong learning.
